The Engaged Learning Committee would report to the Provost
Composition of Membership
The committee would be composed of 17 members including the following:
- Associate Dean for Engaged Learning (ex officio)
- Director of URSA
- Director of Undergraduate Research in the College of Arts & Sciences, ex officio
- Director of Civic Learning & Engagement, ex officio
- Director of Major Fellowships & Awards, ex officio
- 10 at-large faculty members from across the university selected by the Committee on Committees and the Provost in consultation with the Associate Dean for Engaged Learning. These members should be active mentors to undergraduate students, with demonstrated commitment to one of the five areas of engaged learning.
- Two students from the undergraduate student body selected by the Associate Dean for Engaged Learning.
Committee Charge Responsibilities
The committee promotes engaged learning activities on campus and advises the Provost on the advancement of undergraduate opportunities for research, civic engagement, internships, international engagement, and major fellowships and awards. The committee administers the URSA small grant program, organizes on-campus research symposia, selects winners for the Elizabeth Vardaman Award for Mentoring Undergraduates, promotes the development of faculty mentors, increases visibility of fellowships and award opportunities, and advances civic engagement offerings.
