General Education Assessment Committee
Reporting Line
The General Education Assessment Committee reports to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education.
Composition of Membership
Eighteen members, including the following:
- Committee on Committees selects nine members from the College of Arts & Sciences, with members representing diverse academic interests among departments.
- Deans select one member from each of the other colleges and schools: Computer Science and Engineering; Business; Libraries; Nursing; Robbins College; Education; Honors College; Music; and Social Work.
- Ex officio members include the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and a representative from the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
Committee Charge Responsibilities
The General Education Assessment Committee has the primary responsibility over the following two broad goals: (1) To define the college-level competencies expected of all Baylor graduates; and (2) To assess the extent to which graduates have attained the competencies.
More specific tasks of this committee include the following:
- Examination of assessment results annually;
- Direction of additional analyses of the results, if needed;
- Dissemination of results to the appropriate constituents;
- Recommendations of any needed action based on the results;
- Continuation of regular assessment of the college-level competencies;
- Preparation of a regular report summarizing the assessment process.
