Academy for Teaching and Learning Advisory Committee

Reporting Line

The Academy for Teaching and Learning (ATL) Advisory Committee reports to the Vice-Provost of Academic Affairs.

Composition of Membership

The committee is composed of thirteen rotating faculty members selected by the University Committee on Committees with three members from the College of Arts & Sciences and one member from all other academic units.  The Director of the ATL and the Vice-Provost for Academic Affairs are ex officio members. The Director serves as chair.

Committee Charge Responsibilities

The Advisory Council serves a vital role in supporting the mission and strategic development of the Academy for Teaching & Learning (ATL) at Baylor University. The Council's primary functions include:

1. Strategic Guidance and Feedback
   • Offer ongoing strategic advice as the ATL and ATL programming evolves.
   • Provide feedback on existing and proposed programs, services, and curriculum.
   • Advise on opportunities for performance improvement and innovation.
2. Campus and Community Representation and Presence
   • Share insights into the needs and perspectives of Baylor educators.
   • Serve as advocates for the ATL across the university and beyond, including external stakeholders such as businesses, nonprofits, and governmental entities.
   • Help bridge the ATL with existing networks of influence and opportunity both within and beyond the university.
3. Promotion, Visibility, and Growth
   • Enhance awareness of the ATL through sharing success stories and promoting ATL offerings within their spheres of influence.
   • Help identify and connect the ATL with people, organizations, and resources of strategic relevance.
